Is It For You? Look at the list below and give each area of your life a mark out of ten for how satisfactory it is (10/10 = top)
Money – have you got enough; do you use it wisely but still have some fun; do you never have enough?
Career – is it all you want it to be; have you got unfulfilled ambitions; do you love or hate your job?
Self – what do you do to develop yourself; have time for yourself etc?
Fun & Recreation – what do you do, how often; would you like to have more?
Health – do you eat well; keep fit; feel great; get regular health check ups or do you know that you don’t always eat healthily; drink too much alcohol and not enough water; should you do more to keep fit?
Friends & Family– do you have a great work-life balance or do you feel you don’t have time for the family; struggle to keep up friendships etc?
Home Surroundings and Environment – is your home how you want it; do you keep on top of the chores; is it conducive to relaxation as well as work?
Significant Other & Romance - are you happy in a relationship or don’t have time to give your partner you full attention; are you struggling to find time to meet the right partner?
If you have areas of your life that do not receive at least 8/10 then you might like to discuss how you can improve them to create a more balanced life.
How to begin
You have taken the first step by accessing this website. The next step is for you to call us on 07834 712 092 or +44 (0) 1227 379920 to arrange a FREE initial consultation to appreciate the benefits of Life Coaching and you can then decide whether to proceed with a programme of Coaching sessions (typically four to begin with). These are carried out over the phone or face to face and last 30-45 minutes as arranged.
We will send you a welcome pack with questionnaires and life assessment sheets to fill in so that you and your Coach are aware of the values that drive you and the areas of your life that are in balance or out of balance. From that information you will choose the area of your life to discuss, the goals (long and short term) you wish to achieve and agree with your Coach how you are going to manage this. The Coach will seek your permission before offering you any suggestions because you, at all times, are in charge of your life. That doesn’t mean that the Coach will not challenge you!
FAQs
Why do we need Coaches?
In the past extended families may have supplied this support but so often now people live away from their family roots and do not have this backup. It is also beneficial to talk to someone who will listen, will challenge you to reach your potential and be supportive, not judgmental. Friends and family are often too involved and subjective and may have their own needs or agenda that they wish you to support.
How do I know that I need a coach?
Answer these questions honestly.
Would you like to wake up in the morning looking forward to the day ahead?
Would you like to have a better life/work balance?
Would you like to fulfill that dream you have had for so long?
Would you like to change direction?
Would you like to have better relationships?
If you answered ‘no’ to every question you are in great shape and probably don’t need a coach. There may be other areas of your life however that we didn’t ask about and may need reviewing. If there were some questions that you answered yes to, it would be worth considering seeking the help of a coach.
Is it worth it?
The simple answer is ‘yes’. Compare yourself to a car and consider how much better it performs after regular maintenance. You are worth significantly more than a car - both to yourself, your family and your work colleagues- yet you probably put self-care at the bottom of your needs list. Most people are happy to pay for a car service on a vehicle that can only depreciate with time but how much more valuable would it be to invest in yourself in order to keep your life balanced and you functioning at your optimal best? It is far better to think of your coaching sessions as an investment rather than a cost. We offer individual sessions for £60 and a great-value package of four 45-minute sessions for £200 (£120 for under 18s).
Isn’t it better to have face to face coaching sessions?
For some people the idea of a telephone coaching session seems very strange and it certainly makes your coach work harder as they have to listen to the nuances in your voice to pick up what you are really thinking or saying. All coaches have great listening skills. Think about these points too:
Isn’t it easier to be open and honest when you can’t see the coach?
Isn’t it reassuring to know that wherever you are in the country, even if you are away abroad, you can be in touch with your coach and continue your sessions?
How many sessions do I need?
Only you know the answer to that question and as you begin your coaching sessions you may decide that you need more than you originally thought or you may resolve the issue much sooner. Some people have coaching for a year or more, others for a month. We don’t think that you can really get to the root of an issue in less than a month which is why we offer our 4-session package. Some clients will want to think about three months as an optimal time as most people need that time to change behaviour patterns that have existed for some time. It would be unrealistic to expect instant results but after the first session you will have set in motion the actions required to achieve your goal. Is there homework?
Again this is entirely up to you and we don’t set homework like schools. There may, however, be some tasks that we feel it would be beneficial for you to complete before the next sessions. They will not be onerous and may involve jotting down some points, thinking something through or observing other people’s behaviour. If you don’t want to carry these out you simply need to say so.
I understand that coaching requires a commitment from the client/coachee but what if I don’t manage to carry out what I have committed to?
We would not be judgemental but would ask you to think about what had stopped you succeeding. Our aim it to be supportive as well as challenging. Remember coaching is all about working in partnership with the client.
Why won’t a coach tell me what to do?
Simply, because that’s not what you have paid us to do. If you want the easy option of someone else telling you how to lead your life then coaching is not for you. Coaches act as soundboards and are trained to listen to what you are saying (and what you are not saying) and to ask you insightful and probing questions which will enable you to gain a better clarity about what you want. We will support you to create, for yourself, the best way forward so you can take ownership of your own future. At times we may offer options (with your permission) for you to consider. After all who is living your life – you or us? Best of all, we will be delighted to share in your successes and there will be plenty of those if you commit to making changes in your life.
I need to talk to someone about this
Fine – contact us and we will be delighted to talk through the process with you and help you assess whether coaching is right for you. After all, it is not in our best interests to take on a client who is resistant to change, wants us to make decisions for them or refuses to commit to actions agreed upon. We have a commitment to our present clients to give them our energies and to be present in our sessions with them and it would not be beneficial to us or them if we were involved with people who were not as committed.
Am I admitting I have failed if I seek coaching?
The answer to this question is ABSOLUTELY NOT! What you have done is recognised that there is an area of imbalance in your life or a goal you need clarifying and help achieving. We firmly believe that we all have talents and abilities which may sometimes get swamped by other issues and that sometimes we may need help in revealing these.
Will a coach know if I am not telling the truth?
It is crucial to the coaching /client partnership that we are honest with each other. What have you got to gain by not being honest? You have chosen to pay for a service that will help you effect changes in your life and to get the maximum benefit you must be entirely honest with us. We will never reprimand you if you haven’t done your ‘homework’ or made the change you have committed to. We will, together, look at what stopped you succeeding.
How do I pay?
We prefer payment using Paypal - you don't need to have an account as all you need is an email address. It is by far the simplest and safest way to pay and Paypal accepts all debit & credit cards. Alternatively you can send a cheque.
